Environmental Impact Assessments

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT (EIA)
Legislation requires that before planning permission can be obtained, an environmental assessment may need to be undertaken in order to evaluate whether the current land condition is suitable for the proposed use and to determine the environmental impact of a proposed development.

Typical work activities include:

  • collecting and interpreting data from a variety of sources, putting it into order and presenting it as written scientific reports and policy statements (these reports will examine areas such as the effects on human health, groundwater and the surrounding environment);
  • attending meetings with clients and delivering presentations;
  • conducting field surveys and monitoring to establish baseline data or levels of pollution/contamination;
  • developing environmental management systems;
  • conducting audits to evaluate the environmental performance of particular activities;
  • carrying out environmental impact assessments for a wide range of development projects;

Environmental Assessment is a critical tool in the UK planning process providing a framework by which environmental impacts of proposed developments are predicted and used to influence decision making. Drawing upon a wealth of previous experience, Tim Linnington is able to offer a thoroughly professional service in all aspects of Environmental Assessment for every stage of the planning process and beyond.
Tim Linnington has been involved in environmental assessment for over 20 years with experience in both statutory and non-statutory EIA.
